Transforming Failure into Growth: Insights from the Museum of Epic Failures 2025

The “Museum of Epic Failures” , one of the community initiatives under the AYF, recently concluded its presence in the “S+ Summit cum Expo 2025,” organised by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS), and announced the launch of the “Museum of Epic Failures: Growth Support Program.” This programme combines training, mentor matching, and themed workshops to help young people learn from failures through shared experiences, promoting understanding, acceptance, and encouragement among individuals in society, and encouraging a rethinking of the value of failure to support youth development.

Since 2015, the “Museum of Epic Failures” team has been challenging the negative stigma surrounding “failure” through innovative exhibitions and public dialogue, advocating for a growth mindset that embraces learning from setbacks. Since 2019, our AYF team has supported the operation of this community initiative, actively organising various exhibitions and workshops in collaboration with the curation team. Our recent participation in the “S+ Summit cum Expo 2025” showcases the team’s efforts over the years and aims to create further collaboration opportunities with different organisations.

Dan, co-founder of the AYF and team member of the exhibition, remarked:

“Success and failure are two inseparable aspects of life. What ultimately determines our experience of failure is our mindset. Failure is not a conclusion; it is merely a stage of ‘not yet successful.’ Through reflection and adjustment, we can deepen our understanding of ourselves and better prepare for future challenges.”

We firmly believe that sharing failures not only offers valuable insights to others but also acts as a means of self-healing. When participants relinquish the burden of “needing to succeed” and re-evaluate the significance of setbacks presented in the exhibition, they often discover that experiences they once felt ashamed of are, in fact, the “survival wisdom” that society lacks.

Thanks for all who visited us over the past week. Looking ahead, we hope to collaborate with various organisations and institutions to dispel the myth of “failure” and transform these experiences into a driving force for continuous growth.
